The "Negru Voda" Cultural Foundation Fagaras was set up as a nongovernmental cultural society, non-political and nonprofit, on July 4th 1994 and legalized by the civil sentence no. 3223/11.30.1994.

The Foundation's aim is non-political and non-profit and it consists of stimulating the cultural and economical revival of The Fagaras Country , by stressing on the resources, the traditions, the local talents and the citizens' experience, on the re-building the strings between the people from Fagaras living in the Romanian Diaspora, by supporting the UE and NATO adhesion programs and by promoting the implementation of the Community's Acquis.

Made up of 4 departments:Education, Fagaras culture and civilization, Youth and civic education, Ecology and tourism, the foundation wants to encourage local talents, support educational reforms, revitalize traditional customs and manufacturing in Fagaras, assessing the value of touring potential of Figures area, and also civic, democratic and ecologic education of Fagaras citizens.
The more than 120 members - half of them pupils and students - have organized very professionally thematic exhibitions, personalities meetings, books and folklore music albums launches of local writers and singers. Having its own printing house - "Negru Voda" - the foundation has edited and published up to now 14 volumes with literary, philosophical or technical content.
Being a new and important cultural pole of Fagaras, the Cultural Foundation "Negru Voda" has managed to attract around it the cultural elite of Fagaras, who thus was able to action in all domains, strengthening the civil society of Fagaras and contributing to the cultural affirmation of Fagaras and the surrounding areas on regional, national and international level
